Welcome to the GPO and BT Telephone Instrument Museum, an online museum dedicated to the preservation and operation of historic British telephone instruments and associated telecommunications equipment. The collection has been assembled from a variety of sources, including private sales, swap meets, and online auctions. Each item has been carefully restored and recommissioned for use on the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).
All instruments within the collection remain fully operational and are regularly used on the modern telephone network, either directly or via a Cisco Voice Gateway, demonstrating the continued functionality of legacy telecommunications technology.
The museum is curated by Damian Coombes, a professionally trained Telecoms and Satellite Communications Engineer. Since 2019, he has been collecting, restoring, and maintaining GPO and BT telephones, with a particular focus on returning historic equipment to working service in a contemporary environment.
The current collection is presented on this website.
